Helpful Tips:

Change your filters twice a year!

Not changing your filters may cause damage to your furnace and central air. When your furnace is running with a dirty and clogged furnace filter, it restricts the air flow across the heat exchanger, so it overheats and eventually cracks. During the summer a dirty furnace filter can cause the A/C compressor to burn out.
Remember to change your filters regularly or have Attar Enterprises do it for you with semi-annual maintenance plan checks.

Other Helpful Tips

Closing rooms. Unoccupied rooms should be closed and the heat shut off. Do not close return air grilles or more than one-third of all supply registers. Room temperatures should be at least 40".

Thermostat setting. For every 1 degree reduction in the room thermostat setting, you save 2-3% in fuel. If you're away on vacation, the setting should not be below 50".

Night setback. A setback of 10 degrees at night may save as much as 7% in fuel for poorly insulated houses (much less for well-insulated houses). Do not use the night setback if the outside temperature is below zero because the morning heat recovery takes too long.

Attached garages. Garages housing the furnace and/or water heater should be fully insulated.

Insulate the basement. When the basement is used for purposes other than storage, the walls and windows should be insulated. If used only for storage, the ductwork and the floor above should be insulated and the basement should be kept unheated.
